In response to COVID-19, Amplifier launched an emergency campaign with top art curators and public-health advisors from around the world looking for public health and safety messages that can help flatten the curve through education and symbols that help promote mental health, well-being, and social change work during these stressful times.
The original artwork has been downloaded by people all over the world, wheat pasted in places like Pittsburgh, projected in major cities globally, and acquired by the Library of Congress for their archives.
Artist Statement: What has struck me the most about this global pandemic is the solidarity. We, as a globe, are truly in this together, but from afar. We have to go into social isolation, but we are all actively resisting this virus as a human family. There has never been a global moment where the entire human species has come together in solidarity to resist a common cause. (I always imagined it would be aliens or zombies, but this is something different altogether.) I wanted to create something that represents this moment. The symbol on the top is NASA’s symbol for Earth.
